This is a private walking tour to discover the incredible archaeological world that is Pompeii, the ancient Roman city buried by the tragic eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD. Unlike the usual Tours, ours is different for two very important reasons. First of all, your exceptional guide throughout the day will be a REAL ARCHAEOLOGIST. In addition you will not just visit the ruins of the ancient Roman town  of Pompeii, but you will go in search of the many treasures of the city that today are kept in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples.

You cannot love Pompeii and do not visit the place that keeps and displays its treasures, statues, frescoes, mosaics and many other finds. The National Archaeological Museum of Naples (also known as MANN) is among the most important in the world and in addition to the Pompeian and Herculaneum exhibits, it boasts extraordinary collections from different continents of  the world.

This is a walking tour (NO transportation is included) and the transfer between the two sites will be by EAV Circumvesuviana railway trains (this trip between Pompeii and Naples takes about 35-40 minutes). Skip the line included in the ruins, so you will not waste time in line to buy entrance tickets. Quick lunch break if required. (Entrance tickets and train tickets are NOT included).

You’ll meet our professional English-speaking guide – a real Archaeologist - by a pre-arranged meeting point by main entrance of Pompeii site ( Porta Marina Superiore). Of course this tour can be customized to your needs and requests and, if you prefer, we can start it from the National Archaeological Museum of Naples  instead of Pompeii.  You’ll spend 2 hours in each site (+ transfer time by train) together with our professional English-speaking REAL Archaeologist and you’ll see some of the most important houses and buildings in Pompeii plus the most important collections at MANN.

Some of the highlights in Pompeii will be: the Basilica, the Forum, the baths, the bakery, some of the most important houses and finally the plaster casts. While the highlights at the  National Archaeological Museum will be the FARNESE collection that includes the famous sculptural pairing of the tyrannicides Harmodius and Aristogeiton and the  Farnese Bull known as the largest single sculpture yet recovered from antiquity; the Mosaic Collection that includes a number of important mosaics coming from the ruins of Pompeii and the other Vesuvian cities like the amazing Alexander Mosaic, originally from the House of the Faun in Pompeii; frescoes and objects from the Temple of Isis of Pompeii.
