The National Archaeological Museum occupies a group of XVI century buildings which were originally intended to house the royal cavalry, and then became the seat of the university from 1610 to 1777. The collections comprise mainly works of art belonging to the Farnese family and treasures discovered at Pompeii and Herculaneum. It is one of the richest museums in the world for Greek and Roman antiquities.

POMPEII MONUMENT OF THE DAY
This large house, built in the 2nd century B.C. and restructured during the Imperial age, opens onto Via di Nola and consists of a double Tuscan atrium and a peristyle with a double order of columns at the front. The house was given this name as it was discovered in 1879, the year of the eighteenth centenary of the eruption which completely buried Pompeii. (Apic. 4, 2, 12) Ingredients:
- Leftovers of cooked fish
- 5 grains pepper
- 5 leaves rue
- Liquamen (or 2 tblsp soya sauce + 2 tsp anchovy paste)
- 2 tblsp oil
- 2 eggs
- Seaweed
Instructions:

Finely chop enough baked or boiled fish to fill a casserole dish of the size you want to use. Pulverize pepper and rue, add Liquamen, oil and raw eggs, then whip.
