A new itinerary has been designed to meet the needs of visitors with reduced mobility (such as parents with young children and strollers, old, disabled people). Sidewalks and streets of the ancient city may represent an obstacle while visiting Pompeii. Today ramps and special connections will make the visitor’s walk easier. While not all obstacles could be removed, symbolic places and some of the most significant domus are now more easily accessible. That is why we call it friendly Pompeii ! Today special signs lead visitors around the excavations: visitors can see one of the city’s necropolis (cemeteries), casts of some victims of the eruption, an area cultivated as a vineyard, wonderful domus, as well as buildings open to the public for the first time.
The nice walk through the insulae (city blocks) of Pompeii lasts about two hours.
